A RECOVERING VINYASA YOGA TEACHER

i wasn’t always like this.

I WAS TRAINED AS A CAPITAL V VINYASA YOGA TEACHER, AND I TOOK MY CHAUTAURANGAS VERY SERIOUSLY.

But after years of following strict alignment cues for myself and my students I began to understand that there were other ways to move within yoga. In fact, it might be better to move in all the ways - not just one.

SA TA NA MA MEDTATION

Kirtan Kriya - or SaTaNaMa - is an ancient meditation practice from the Kundalini lineage. Mantra, mudra, and visualization combine to create a deep state of inner peace. What we now know is that SaTaNaMa also increases cerebral blood flow to areas of the brain responsible for memory retention and retrieval. It's an exciting revelation in a time-honored practice.
